THOUGHTFUL RECRUITMENT

A PERSONAL, CONSIDERED APPROACH

We are genuinely passionate about being part of the necessary change in the industry. After decades of poor treatment of those working with us, we must make some fundamental changes to the way we do almost everything. We are very proud to only work with those embracing that need, putting people first, turning the industry ‘standards’ on their head and offering a positive, nurturing, fair and progressive working culture.

We also felt there was a need for a more personal recruitment service for small businesses, without the giant fees. Recruiters have a bad name in hospitality, when those who do it well, offer a very necessary, valuable and essential service to busy owners and operators.

The way we differ is that we only work with independent businesses, so that we can vouch for exactly what it will be like to work in the places we introduce anyone to. We will turn down the opportunity to work with anyone we do not consider to be progressive and genuinely caring.

We work predominantly for the individual and would never consider introducing you to any workplace that wasn’t going to be the right fit. One which would not have a focus on your personal and professional development, as well as your physical and mental wellbeing.

LAUREN, Founder

I am Lauren, the founder of Home. I have worked in hospitality my whole career, most recently heading up an Operations team, before going alone in 2018. My passions including eating, drinking, travelling and doing mum stuff with my boys. My goal is to one day add a more interesting and sophisticated hobby to this list, but for now, it is plenty.  I care immensely about our industry, the opportunities it offers those who join it, the diversity, the social benefits, the unrivalled passion you hear in the voices of those who work in it and the challenges a career in hospitality can throw at you. But yes, we have a lot of work to do, and I am proud that as a business, we have the opportunity to drive some of that necessary change, however small (but perfectly formed) our circle of control may be.

HAYLEY, Senior Team Coordinator

I am Hayley, I’ve been a chef for the past 6 years and I was keen to join Lauren @ Home because I am passionate about the brilliant people in our industry finding great jobs where they are valued, that nurture talent and that pay fairly. Connection is something I value hugely and it’s a joy to speak to people each day and to help them find their new ‘home’.

In my spare time I love cooking and eating out – gathering around a table with good food, good friends and good conversation is time well spent to me. I also run a seasonal online cookery school born out of lockdown and all about cooking for connection, called Flow.

CHARLOTTE, Team Coordinator

Hi, I’m Charlotte! I’ve worked in hospitality for as long as I can remember, focusing particularly on wine and people, often in Michelin starred restaurants. The most satisfying part of any job has always been helping develop and mentor my colleagues into their next steps. This passion has led me to Lauren and Home Hospitality. I’m passionate about our industry and I think we must change to become an attractive career prospect for all, one that affords real opportunities for growth and development beyond your mid 30’s! Outside of this I’m a total history fanatic…I’m kind of obsessed with Anne Boleyn...

LUCA, Marketing/Partnerships

Alicia Keys once said “concrete jungle where dreams are made of” and that’s how I feel about London. Having worked in almost every aspect of the industry for over 15 years in Australia, I moved to London to see what all the fuss is about. What I love about London is that you always have the 3 pillars within touching distance - a good Turkish, an old pub and a wine bar with small plates. This is a city that pushes boundaries and is at the centre of innovation, and the workplace culture mimics that. Striving to be the best comes with great human cost, and even though there’s no slowing down for this city, it’s teams like Home that are the catalyst for much needed change. To see the change, you have to be the change - so let’s get to it!

RICH, Actually Good Projects

I'm Rich and I founded Home's sister platforms, Actually Good Chef Jobs with Lauren back in 2020 and more recently Actually Good Projects in 2022. Prior to that I've worked in all sectors of hospitality over a fair few years; pubs, bars, clubs, wedding venues, high end restaurants, casual dining and cinemas across all areas including front of house, back of house, menu development and also in procurement.

I love food & drink (to a quite obsessive level) and mid noughties indie. I also love being in and around the hospitality industry and can't wait for the day that both of my boys get stuck into their first KP jobs...
